All Who Dwell on the Earth

Words: Jesse Rey Quesada. Music: Bryan Jeffrey Lee.

O Sovereign Creator, who fashioned the seas;

Who formed from the dust all the life that we see;

Whose image was fixed with an unchanging word

Upon man and woman to rule o’er this world.

From Adam You made all who dwell on the earth –

One bloodline, one people, made equal by birth.

Though scattered at Babel, one race still remains;

Diverse in its colors, yet one and the same.

Behold this, a mystery beyond all compare:

The Son veiled His glory to bring all men near.

Our likeness, His fullness incarnate in flesh –

Supreme condescendence of mercy and grace!

Hear this, the commandment He's given to us:

To love one another, just as He has loved.

As He stooped to serve, gath’ring under His wing,

So we in His likeness, with justice to bring.

How woeful! How wretched, the hatred we see

Between image bearers who know not Your peace!

Oh rend not your garments, but lay low your hearts;

Beseech God His transforming love to impart.

Til that day eternal, when justice shall reign –

Delivered the captives, and broken the chains –

Your will, be it done, as in Heaven, on earth,

And freedom to all those oppressed by the curse.
