Behold the Servant of the Lord
Words: Jesse Rey Quesada. Music: Bryan Jeffrey Lee.
Behold, the Servant of the Lord,
In whom His soul delights.
Our great Redeemer, Christ, the Word,
Whose burden load is light.
The smoking flax He does not quench;
He binds the bruising reed.
His heart is gentle, Come, find rest –
The sinner He receives.
Behold, th’incarnate Son of God,
With man He makes His home.
Our humble Lord descends to us
Within the virgin’s womb.
In Bethlehem a child is born;
To us a Son is giv’n.
He comes to give His people life,
And save them from their sin.
Behold, the Son of David comes;
He rides the lowly foal.
Despised, He boasts no majesty,
And takes thorns for His crown.
His name assigned with wicked men
Though lies He uttered none.
Whose grief is like unto our Lord,
The blameless, holy One.
Behold the Sacrificial Lamb,
For Adam's race He died.
His righteousness is giv'n to us;
By faith we're justified.
Christ pierced for our iniquities;
His stripes have brought us nigh.
God's wrath forever satisfied –
Atonement now supplied.
Behold, the Shepherd of the church,
The Guardian of our souls.
He intercedes on our behalf,
Before the Father's throne.
He works in us obedience,
According to His will;
And brings us blameless to the throne –
His promise to fulfill.
Behold, our King will come again –
His people to reclaim.
The bride of Christ prepares herself
With garments white, unstained.
Henceforth we shall forevermore
Take up the great refrain:
Sing, "Hallelujah to our God;
The Lamb forever reigns!"
