Blessings on the hand of women!
How endowed with strength and grace.
In the palace, cottage, hovel,
Oh, no matter where the place;
God exalts her labor highly –
By His providence unfurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that shapes the world.

Infancy’s the tender fountain
From which life, a river grows.
Mother’s first to guide the streamlets,
As she shapes their ebb and flow.
For the good or for the evil,
Does her work the channels curl;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that shapes the world.

Woman, how divine your mission!
Born from His most holy thought:
To by faithful, wise instruction
Make disciples for our God.
See, these trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that shapes the world.
Blessings on the hand of women!
Fathers, sons, and daughters cry,
“Oh what love, and care, and blessing
From her hand we've been supplied!”
She the beauty of creation,
Like the rainbow gently curled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that shapes the world.
