Immortal, Invisible

Words & Music: Jesse Rey Quesada. Original Words: Walter C. Smith (1876)

Immortal, invisible, Father of light;

King Jesus, the sovereign, You rule in Your might;

Our Comforter, Helper, O Spirit of grace;

Triune God eternal, Your great name we praise!

Almighty, all holy, all righteous and true,

Pure radiance of glory, to Whom praise is due.

Your judgments, like oceans, unplumbed are their depths,

Your kindness, the heavenscould not hold the breadth.

To all life, You give, both to great and to small,

The mercy of living, sustained by Your pow’r;

We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,

And wither and perish, all by Your decree.

Unfathomed Your mercy, unrivaled Your love,

Abounding in patience for sinners to come,

Be this our confession, else hope would depart:

For even the foremost, there’s room in Your heart!
