Psalm 2
Words: Jesse Rey Quesada. Music: Austin Thompson.
Why do nations rage and counsel,
Plotting vain against the King?
Striving hard against His goodness –
Fearing not the Lord’s decree.
He who sits in heaven scorns them,
Speaking in His dreadful might,
“I’ve installed my King on Zion –
He who is salvation’s Light.”
Christ, begotten of the Father,
Son of God eternally;
Heav’n and earth shall be His portion –
Ruling o’er them sovereignly.
He shall free the ones held captive;
Vict’ry by the Son secured.
Sin’s dominion dashed asunder,
By the scepter of The Lord.
Therefore kings, discern thy error;
Heed the warning from on high.
Cast thyself upon His mercy;
Flee the judgment coming nigh.
Kiss the Son lest He be angered,
And ye perish in the way;
For His wrath is kindled quickly.
Lo! His word shall not delay.
Worship Him who formed the heavens
And the spirit within man.
Bring thy off’ring, bow before Him,
Trembling low before the Lamb.
Blest is he who finds his refuge
In the Son – a bulwark strong.
He shall raise thee up to glory,
E’er to join the heav’nly throng.
